Onboarding WoowTech

Once WoowTech has been installed on your hardware, a short five-step setup gets everything ready to use. The whole thing runs in a web browser and wraps up in just a few minutes — there's no terminal work or coding involved.

Step 1 — Open WoowTech in your browser

Point your browser at http://homeassistant.local:8123/. The first thing you'll see is a "Preparing WoowTech" screen while the system pulls down its files (roughly 700 MB), so give it a moment. When the download finishes, the welcome screen takes over and you can begin.

If homeassistant.local doesn't resolve on your network, use the device's IP address followed by :8123 instead.

Step 2 — Create your account, or restore a backup

At this point you choose one of two paths.

Starting fresh. Set up the owner account, which is the top-level administrator for your installation. You'll provide a display name, a username (lowercase, no spaces), and a password. Keep these credentials somewhere secure — the owner login can't be recovered if it's lost, so write the name, username, and password down and store them safely.

Coming from an existing setup. If you already have a backup, you can restore it here rather than starting over. WoowTech Yellow and WoowTech Green owners have their own dedicated restore instructions to follow.

Step 3 — Tell WoowTech where home is

Next, mark your home's location. WoowTech uses this to work out your time zone, the unit system to display, and your currency. It also drops a default "home" zone with a 100-meter radius around the spot you pick. That location awareness is what powers things like local weather on your dashboard or automations that fire at sunrise.

Step 4 — Decide on data sharing

WoowTech then asks whether you're willing to contribute anonymous, aggregated usage statistics. This is switched off by default, so nothing is shared unless you choose to. Opting in is entirely voluntary, but the data helps the project see how WoowTech is actually used and decide what to work on next.

Step 5 — Finish up

Click Finish and you're done. WoowTech drops you onto your default dashboard, fully set up and ready to start adding devices and building automations.
